Medical Transfer Services

In conjunction with our Air Ambulance service, Thunder Airlines operates a land Medical Transfer Service. This transfer only vehicle moves patients between sending and receiving care facilities and Thunder Bay Airport.

Early in 2015, a trial was started to test the feasibility of operating a patient transfer service between Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Center and Thunder Bay Regional Airport. Patient transfer wait times were becoming a major concern; it was decided to add capacity to the local Ambulance system. This service continues to date and has been marked as a major success in decreasing patient transfer wait time.
